Goodwill Goods

I think I have a new passion/obsession.

Thrifting.

Yep, I have been bitten by the thrifting bug. It is amazing what you can find for so little. I just have to share a few of my finds with you. Check them out.

Shoes...who doesn't love a new (to me) pair of shoes let alone two pairs!

I am so excited about this...a nice black blazer. Planning to feature this baby in some cute outfit soon.

This is an Anne Taylor tweed skirt!

Belt. I liked the color and design.

A whole bunch of  books for the little man. I am over the moon excited about these because I was getting really tired of the three books that we already have.

Fabric! This stuff caught my eye because of the teal color. I have been contemplating bringing in the mustard yellow color into our bedroom. This stuff would be perfect to make a decor pillow.

This is what it might look like if I did end up making a pillow. I might make a smaller longer pillow instead of making one that is the same size as the bird pillow. What do you think? Does it go? I am still on the fence about it.

This is the kicker...You want to know how much all of this cost me? Go ahead just take a guess...

Drum roll please....

$1.07

That's right people all of that great stuff cost me one dollar and seven cents. That was not a typo! I stumbled upon this great deal going on at a small thrift shop. You could fill and entire grocery bag full for just $1! Yeah I was just a wee bit giddy about it.

I have a feeling thrifting may be in my blood.

Master Bedroom To Do

With every room in the house I have things that I would like to do and improve and I think the bedroom is one of the places that needs the most work at this point. Because I am such a list lover I decided I would make a list of some of the things that I want to add/decorate in the master bedroom.

Master Bedroom To Do List:

- Find some smaller side tables
- Get a dresser
- Once we have said dresser organize the closest
- Wall art
- New bed skirt
- Find a throw blanket for the end of the bed

Now if any of you have seen or know of some cool DIY stuff that would go along with my list I would LOVE to know about it. Send me a link via a comment and I will definitely check it out.

Master Bedroom Updates

Our master bedroom looked pretty awful for nearly a month while I tried to figure out what I wanted to do. Well I can happily report that we now have a duvet and some pillows and it feels much more like a bedroom. I still feel it has a long way to go...but it is a definite improvement.

Check out the before and after photos.

What do you think of the color scheme? I love our new white duvet! The room does need more "pops" of color as the interior design people would say and I plan to add a throw blanket to the end of the bed someday. I am even thinking maybe bringing in that pretty mustard yellow color. What do you think about that? [Please note that our walls are not really that gross color that they are in the photos, this was all the lack of skill of the photographer]

The Tour

OK, so I took FOREVER to get this posted but I have been having some issues with posting video. I think I have got it all figured out now. This is an awful video and you are probably going to want to lose whatever last meal you just ate but it is the best I could do.

Take a look into our new apartment!

Apt. #4

We made it!!

Our trek to Omaha went fairly smoothly minus the 30 minute crying bouts that occurred from baby g while stuck on the freeway in one lane construction. Yeah not fun.

By the time I arrived in Omaha I was exhausted. Thankfully the moment I was so nervous about (walking into our never before seen apartment for the first time) went exceptionally well.

It was just as it was pictured and I was SO grateful.

We have now been here for 7 days and I have quickly determined my likes and dislikes about our new place.

It seems the footage we added was taken away from what we had in our previous appliances. We have a small washer and dryer, fridge and dishwasher but they all do their jobs and do them pretty well so I can't complain too much. I am not a huge fan of the blinds (they're kind of cheap). I don't love the cabinets, they're kind of a white pinky purple color (will post pictures later). I also am not a fan of the fact that the bathroom has no drawers just one big cupboard and under the sink storage.

On the other hand... I LOVE how tall our ceilings are. We are on the bottom floor and I don't even feel like we are. It is fabulous! I love that we have quite a bit more space, meaning square footage. Crazy what a few more feet can do. I have a laundry ROOM and it is incredible. It is a clean freaks dream. We also have tons of storage which pretty much rocks my world. Our closet in the master bedroom is huge in comparison to what we had and I couldn't be happier. Overall I am really digging the new place.

Soon to come...the full blown tour!

Omaha, Nebraska Here We Come!

Yep! Omaha, Nebraska is where we will be living for the next few years while the hubs attends law school at Creighton University.

This is going to be a BIG change for us.

New state.
New apartment.
Busy hubs.
Less income.
Cold winters.
Humidity.
Far away from family.

That all being said I really feel this is such a wonderful opportunity for us to really grow. I think we are going to LOVE Omaha because it will be what we make it and I refuse to have a less than fabulous experience.

We are going to pack up our lives in a truck on August 4th and begin the trek and I mean trek (14 hours!) to Omaha. We will make a stop in the quaint town of Cheyenne, WY (ha) and finish the trek the next day.

We are making the trek with a 4 month old babe and I will be ALONE in the car. Yeah, not excited. The hubs has to drive the truck so I have to drive the car with baby g in tow. It is going to be interesting.

On August 6th we will receive the keys to our new apartment which we have only seen through pictures online. I'm a little nervous for the moment that we walk through our door for the first time. I am seriously praying that our apartment will look like what I saw online. I will be sure to let you know how that moment goes.

So that's the plan. Stay tuned for the play by play.

A New Chapter

My family and I are about to embark on a new chapter of our lives. As we begin this new chapter we will be doing so in a new state in a new apartment.

I love the idea of a clean slate. Beginning anew. Starting fresh.

With this new start I want to take the opportunity to document my journey in establishing a new life and home in the place we will reside for the next few years.

In the past year I have really come to love beautiful spaces that make you feel at home. I want to do this with our new place and do it all on a TIGHT budget I might add. It is gonna be fun!

So join me for a step by step, project by project journey to making our new house (aka apartment) a home.
